Life Purpose – Is it all much ado about nothing?
Jul 07, 2019
We all go about our busy day - sometimes quite mindlessly would be my guess, reliving yesterday over and over. Getting up at the same time each day, repeating the same functions; ablutions, breakfast, kids off to school, work – same route, and so forth and so forth. All in a normal day.
Pretty random life would you say? Is that really all we signed up for? Is it meaningful and fulfilling? Does it bring us joy…and peace?
Taking care of the family, working to contribute to the family’s needs and well-being – yes, in that regard, meaningful!
Fulfilling? Probably not. Joyful? Probably not. Then what is the purpose? Exactly that – purpose…life purpose! We all arrived on this planet with something – our own unique ‘thing’ that we have to contribute, that will fulfill us and at the same time will add to the greater good – an essential part of our life purpose…the greater good.
If we are to live more fulfilling lives and make this lifetime matter, it is imperative that we discover what our ‘thing’ is, for believe me, we all have our ‘thing’.
More than likely you will find there is a ‘thread’ that has weaved its way throughout your life, probably pointing you in the direction of your life purpose.
When I look back, that’s what happened to me. From a young age I was that person that friends turned to for help and/or advice – not that I knew what I was doing, but all the same, I did help and give advice... I was interested in people and generally liked most people and felt I wanted to help.
It was no surprise then when years later I became involved in community work, church work and still later knew that when life coaching came into my sphere, this was it!
Life purpose coaching, Enneagram coaching and Reiki became my ‘drive’ – all healing modalities.
Today I see that that is my life purpose because it gives me such great joy and satisfaction when I see the ‘light bulb’ of meaning and purpose flash on in my clients, through my work with them. That is the ultimate reward.
The Point?
I think that is what it would be like for everyone when they discover and pursue their life purpose. A feeling of joy, contribution, meaning and fulfillment.
