It's always your way or no way!

"It'always your way or no way!"

Ouch, that stung and stopped me in my tracks. "Is that really true?" I asked myself.

Those words, coming from a kind, loving, and patient person, my husband, is why it stopped me in my tracks, because  he is my biggest 'fan' and supporter. The reason for the remark is irrelevant now, but it begged investigation.

On deep reflection  I found that what really troubled me was the gap between the idea I had of myself - or of who I aim to be, and of the person I am perceived to be.

It hurt my ego (confounded ego) Trust ego to come to mind first, but so it did, because I consider myself to be respectful and tolerant of others views or opinions and now  it was implied that I was not?

The Point?

Back to the drawing board and my bag of coaching tools. I had work to do, because the source of the comment needed to be taken seriously. This was about relationships.

And?

I concluded that I  may have become complacent and may even have taken things for granted. It can happen so easily when one just goes through the  daily motions - not living in the present moment and consciously. Is that what I did? Because when I am present, that is not my modus operandi,  and I did not wish to be perceived in that way. Not nice, but maybe therein lies my lesson.  Don't sleepwalk. Be present and live consciously.

Have you found yourself in that position too?  I can help you. It means 'digging deep'.
